As I mentioned in a previous post, grocery shopping can be an adventure all in itself.
It's very needle in a haystack like, as no two stores seem to have the same things, and just because you found it once, doesn't guarantee it will be there the next go around.
I was on a mission for two things yesterday.
First thing on my list: A Crock Pot.
It's too hot to cook here. It will heat up the house faster than I can blink, so naturally crock pot cooking came to mind. Finding one of these gems here is difficult. Thankfully, there is a helpful group on Facebook that is a when, where and how type of thing that I posted my request of the where to find one. Several helpful people pointed me to one store in one of the zillion malls in this big city. One person even posted a picture for evidence that they in fact, did exist at this location, saving me a ton of time! Woot!
Anyway, it was an outing kind of night, and we ventured to a part of the city that we hadn't been, to a humongous 4 story mall, that was full of people. Going to the mall is the thing to do in the desert heat of summer, so there are a plethora of malls to choose from around here.
Since food is always high on the list of priorities with us, we stuffed our faces before we shopped. I do mean stuffed our faces. It was probably pretty embarrassing to watch us, while we downed 3 baskets of chips and salsa... We downed it like we hadn't seen chips and salsa in years. I've not even been here 2 weeks folks! :) I am not ashamed!
We were successful on the crock pot front, and ventured to the grocery store, (yes the grocery stores are in the malls) to find some Asiago cheese that I need for a party I am hosting Friday.
I had previously mentioned that cheese isn't the easiest to find what is familiar, but right there in the very end of the deli, hiding under the Parmesan cheese blocks, was one big block of delicious Asiago!
Victorious! I found the cheese!
