There are many places here that bring the feeling of home closer. For that we are grateful, and pleasantly surprised at times, the places we find.
Last night was one of those closer to home delights, that left my stomach longing for more of what was in the cases than I could take home with me. A lovely latte was a great way to help us forget the smelly, hot room full of waiting people (all men, actually) hoping to get their local drivers license. I was there for an eye test, and passed with flying colors, so naturally we had to reward ourselves with a little Magnolia Bakery.
This was my pretty cup of Latte. It was so good! We waited for some salted caramel cookies to come out of the oven to bring home for a special treat for the family, while we sipped our coffee and enjoyed a short moment of peace. The cases were full of delectable treats. I think we will make this our go to hide out when it's time for a moment to ourselves. Shhhhh...Don't tell the kids!
Today I am preparing for a smaller dinner party than what we had last week, as just one family is coming this time. Over the years different people throughout our family have lived in interesting countries giving us connections all over the world. Tonight, I will get a chance to meet a family that became friends with a cousin, while they all lived in Cambodia a couple years ago. We will be having Mexican food and this little beauty for dessert....
Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. I'm drooling over here. It's hard to have self control with something like this sitting on the counter. It's like a chocolate chip cookie, but better, because it's in the most delicious pie crust on the face of the planet! Yummo!
Can't wait for dinner, and dessert tonight! I can hardly contain myself!
