Letter to my nearly two year old, and a reminder to the rest of my herd...
When you shake your head no at me, the determination will only set in stronger for your Mama, who will prevail. Since you come from me and your father, you are from the most stubborn stock known to man, and yes, I have mastered the art of stubborn with all my years of experience.
When you throw your plate on the floor in protest of eating the dinner I took the time to make lovingly for you, I will pick it back up and you will sit there and at least have one bite. Just one is all I am asking. Ask me if I will give in and let you down before you have at least one bite? Let me think... Um, nope!
When you throw something on the ground out of anger, or when you are just upset, I will make you pick it up, with your two little chubby cute hands...Every time.
When you refuse to open your mouth to let me help you brush your teeth, I will prevail. Your mouth will eventually open, and I will get those pearly white clean. I've lived a little, I know your mouth cannot stay closed forever.
Those crocodile tears you shed in the time of our stubborn standoff do really break my heart. Believe me the last thing I want to see are tears of heartbreak coming from your sweet face, but, alas, for your best interests, I will stand strong.
When you hurt your sister and make her cry, as she has done to you on so many occasions, I will remain firm and you will learn to show you are sorry, and love her in spite of her taking a toy away from you, and she will learn to do the same for you.
Little Boy, I could not love you more than I do. In fact I adore you. Because I adore you, I will do my part to raise you to be a smart, giving, productive member of this family, and if that means digging in my heals as you have decided to try doing to your adoring Mama, I will return it twofold, because I love you.
I may however scream into a pillow at the end of one of these very long and trying days, just like the one I had yesterday with you. My little adorable stinker.
Big kids, take heed, I will not ever, ever, ever, stop digging in my heals to get you where you need to be, to be all God created you to be. NOT EVER. ;) Don't you forget it.
All my love,
Your crazy, intensely stubborn, purposeful and loving Mom.
