As we have gone through this pregnancy, we've found that deciding on a name was going to be difficult.
I was certain from the beginning we were having boy, so it was no surprise to me when our ultrasound confirmed my suspicions. :)
I've struggled the entire time to not call this baby, Johnny. It's been tough for both Jake and me to keep ourselves from comparing pregnancies and calling this sweet babe the name of our beloved son we lost 3 years ago.
This baby is very different, and it's been a very different pregnancy. He is more calm, and Johnny was a bit crazy. This baby seems to be more easy going, and has been much easier on me, for which I am grateful.
We looked at names for a long time. Nothing really jumped out at us as quick and easy as it was to name John Carter. We considered using Jacob (the hubs name) for a time, until we realized it's one of the top 5 names for little boys and has been for a long time. There are little Jacobs running around everywhere. It's almost like Emma's name, in her kindergarten class of 4 girls, 2 of them were Emma :) At the time we thought we were being original. Apparently, we were wrong. So, Jacob was a no go.
I searched high and low, and around every corner, until I found something that was intriguing to me. The meaning of the name was perfect, but we chewed on it for a long time, to make sure it had the right fit.
The meaning of our little boys name is this: Asher, Blessed, Happy- John, God Is Gracious
We threw my maiden name in there as well. My Dad had all girls, and he was the only son, so the Bassett name ends there, until now. ;)
It is a biblical name, and just happens to be the name of one of the sons of.... Jacob! ;) Very suitable I think!
There is a lot in a name. There is even more importance in his name. Asher John Bassett Rinard
As I write this, he is still happily in my belly.
If it's been posted...well, that just means HE IS HERE!
Welcome to the world, my sweet baby Asher.
