About Me

I'm a mommy blogger. As a mother that has suffered the loss of multiple children while becoming a mother of the bride to our oldest, raising 2 young adults, an 8 year old preemie and a 6 year old tornado, I have a lot to share. I can't guarantee you will agree with everything I say, but I think you may just enjoy it. This is our life, the good, bad and ugly. More about me.

Thankful

Jan 11, 2011

Today, I am thankful.  Thankful for God's protection over my husband.

I wasn't there to witness the events of this afternoon, and that is probably a good thing.  I am sure panic mode would have kicked in.

Our son had yelled out that there was a dog in the lake, barely with it's nose above the water.  The edges of the lake are frozen, and he must have either slipped off the edge, or it broke under the dogs weight.  Little did Phil realize, it was Duncan.  Another member of the family...Our good ole Great Dane.  Jake was out the door and out on the ice before anyone could really think about what to do.  As he was sprawled out trying to spread his weight across to not break the ice, Duncan was struggling to keep his nose up.  At one point, Jake was able to get a hold of him by the collar and almost had him, when the collar slipped off his neck, and back under Duncan went.  Thankfully, and only by the grace of God, Jake got a hold of him again and was able to get him to where he could get his footing, hoping at the same time that the weight of them both wouldn't break the ice and they both go in.  So, cold, wet and a little worse for wear they both emerged victorious.

The silly dog was excited about a lake full of geese and ducks...that were all scared away with the commotion.  Our hope is that he scared himself enough to not attempt such a thing again.  It's not the first time he has attempted to test his ice skating skills...thankfully the time before my brother in law was able to get the dogs off the lake without anyone falling in that time.  So scary...Great Danes are big dogs!

Tragedy averted.  Thank you, Jesus.
