About Me

I'm a mommy blogger. As a mother that has suffered the loss of multiple children while becoming a mother of the bride to our oldest, raising 2 young adults, an 8 year old preemie and a 6 year old tornado, I have a lot to share. I can't guarantee you will agree with everything I say, but I think you may just enjoy it. This is our life, the good, bad and ugly. More about me.

They are Growing Up

Feb 28, 2012

Things have been a little more busy around here as of late.  It's hard for me to believe some of the things we've been doing.

For instance...

Our oldest got a job.  Now I ask myself, how is this possible, she couldn't be old enough to be working, could she?  The answer, obviously is yes, but somehow it doesn't seem that it should be so.  She is a woman on a mission and with a plan.  She has a budget and is saving for retirement!!!  Way ahead of the game with her thinking.  I am so very proud of her.

She has also taken drivers training, which scares me to death.  While she is very mature and good at many things...driving does not come naturally.  So, naturally I am not too keen on her driving very often.  I know however with more practice comes better driving, it's just a little hard for me to let go.  Maybe I should just close my eyes.  :)

I learned to drive in Texas many years ago, and let me tell you, I would almost rather her learn to drive anywhere other than here.  These are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, but that all ends as soon as they are behind the wheel.  They are some of the rudest drivers you will ever drive with.  Especially if they are in a truck, which happens to be every other driver here.  Holy moly, these guys don't like blinkers and insist on being in front of you at all costs.  It also doesn't help that every road and freeway is under major construction adding to the frustration of the commute.  When you put a teenage driver on these roads that is not confident you are sure to end up with a disgruntled driver behind you ready to ram you into next week if you don't get out of their way.

She would like to be a pilot, and go to the Air Force Academy, unfortunately she is an inch too short.  She is praying she will grow to 5ft 4in so she can at least have a chance to get in to the Academy.  At 16, it's unlikely she will grow more but she is hopeful.  It's crazy.  She is growing up too fast.

Our son will be 15 in a couple weeks.  Seriously, 15!  Wow.

Emma turned 13 this month.  This makes for 3 teenagers and an infant in the same house.  Did you know that teenagers are lacking in the brain department.  Makes for a ton of fun around here!    They also have a Dad who thinks they should have common sense!  The joke is on him.   Haha!

Then there is Marlo the Maniac.  She is so much fun, but such a handful.  She still gets up every night for a bottle, and thinks she needs to have her pacifier more and more while she is sleeping.  It makes for some very long nights.  She insists on being held.  All. Day. Long.  She is in love with her sisters and brother, and loves to smile and laugh at them.  It's more precious than any words could ever describe.  We are all enjoying her so very much.  Even at 2am she is the sweetest (bossiest) baby on the planet.

I can't get away from the fact that no matter how much I would like it too sloooooooooooooooow down...

They are growing up too fast.
