Spelled out....Anemia of Prematurity. Which essentially means, blood transfusions and shots 3 times a week.
Please be praying that she begins to produce more red blood cells, which carry essential iron throughout her body. Iron is extremely important in carrying oxygen through the body. When she has a desat, it means she isn't getting a proper saturation of oxygen, and so, less iron means worse saturation. Her prematurity is the reason this is happening, she needs to obviously mature for it to improve...and the sooner she improves, the sooner she will outgrow apneas, bradycardias and desaturations, and the sooner she will be able to come home.
It's no wonder she's been so worn out lately. No matter how worn out she is, she still is a cutie pie!
mommy blogger. As a mother that has suffered the loss of multiple children while becoming a mother of the bride to our oldest, raising 2 young adults, an 8 year old preemie and a 6 year old tornado, I have a lot to share. I can't guarantee you will agree with everything I say, but I think you may just enjoy it. This is our life, the good, bad and ugly.
