About Me

I'm a mommy blogger. As a mother that has suffered the loss of multiple children while becoming a mother of the bride to our oldest, raising 2 young adults, an 8 year old preemie and a 6 year old tornado, I have a lot to share. I can't guarantee you will agree with everything I say, but I think you may just enjoy it. This is our life, the good, bad and ugly. More about me.

This is the great adventure!

Mar 6, 2010

Adventure:
An unusual or exciting experience: an adventure in dining.
Participation in hazardous or exciting experiences: the love of adventure.

A lot can be said about the adventures of life.  This week is one that makes me reflect back on all the years we have enjoyed with our family.  Sometimes days are calm and smooth, but, there are days that can take you by surprise.  Without these eventful moments one might think we have life all figured out.  I have learned this couldn't be farther from the truth.

Parenthood, Motherhood, Wifehood!  Oh what joys they bring!  If you know me very well, you know that I am consistent with just about everything I do and how I plan.  Being a major planner leaves me feeling comfortable, and in control.  If you know anything about being a mother or a wife this can be a true test of sanity.  With a baby coming this means, having everything needed ahead of time.  I don't like last minute running around.  This is one reason I try to keep my pantry stocked and cleaning supplies on hand at all times.  We buy in large quantities, and this makes me happy.  These are things I can control.

Enter chaos!   Okay, well it's manageable, but certainly not my plan.  Did I plan for my husband to break his foot?  Um, nope!  It also wasn't in my plans for him to have surgery on this foot., but what's a girl to do.   What timing!

You know what are scary words for any wife?  No weight on the foot, possibly up to 12 weeks.  My support system is broken (no pun intended).  I keep thinking, all those things I had visions of in my mind for these next few weeks have flown right out the window.  I'm sure they have for him too.  It will be very interesting in the delivery room, and I am praying that the crutches will not be needed at that point.  He wants to "catch" the baby as he is born.

Watching him on his crutches is like watching a baby taking his first steps, multiplied by 20x the size!  His eyes are big, he wobbles around, runs into things with the crutches, and needs a gate to keep him from going up and down the stairs.  :)   He's a big guy, and I can't catch him if he falls.  I still follow him around to make sure he is being as careful as possible, but there is really little I can do.  We have resorted to going up and down the stairs scooting on the booty!

So, adventure?  Yes, just not the one I intended, which is usually the case.  Gotta love it!   Poor guy, I feel so bad for him.

Through the many adventures of life we find ourselves in the middle of, this is one of those memories that we will surely never forget.  These are the things that shape and mold us into who we are.  I wouldn't ask for it to be any different, even if it isn't what we had planned.  Life is exciting, unusual, and always quite the experience!
It truly is the great adventure!
