About Me

I'm a mommy blogger. As a mother that has suffered the loss of multiple children while becoming a mother of the bride to our oldest, raising 2 young adults, an 8 year old preemie and a 6 year old tornado, I have a lot to share. I can't guarantee you will agree with everything I say, but I think you may just enjoy it. This is our life, the good, bad and ugly. More about me.

Thankful

Nov 26, 2009

Today is the day to be thankful.  As I sit and think about all the things that I am thankful for I am reminded that these are all things I am thankful for everyday, not just on this day of Thanksgiving.  A few of the things that stick out are these:  Thankful for hubbies job, a beautiful new home, a fantastic and supportive husband, great kids, and a new baby that we had prayed so long for on the way.  There are so many more things, and I couldn't possibly name them all, but these are what stand out to me.  I have been blessed beyond measure.

Back to the kitchen to continue cooking.  Keeping my fingers crossed that the dough will rise enough to make it into rolls, it's been slow going this morning....I used a different kind of yeast, will not use it again after this.

The cheesecake was delicious by the way!  Score one for me!  Woot!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Have a blessed day!

Oh well

Nov 24, 2009

Tomorrow is J's Birthday, so I decided to make him a delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake.  I managed to get it all baked and the topping put on, and then came time to cover it.  That is where my beautiful masterpiece turned into a mess.  The stinkin wrap I was covering it with collapsed on top of the cheesecake and pulled the middle of topping up and now it is stuck to the press and seal wrap!  UGH!  Not so pretty anymore!  Hopefully I still get an A for effort.

All over everywhere.

Nov 23, 2009

We started the weekend with a trip to SD, to watch a basketball game at PLNU..ate at Pizza Nova, it was delicious, then drove back home.  Next morning loaded the car and headed to Knott's Berry Farm, were able to get 2 of us in for free, and the rest for only $15 each.  I was the designated babysitter for my new 6 week old nephew while everyone rode rides, everyone had a fantastic time.  Ate again ate Portillo's, felt sick after, then bought a turkey...Finally!  Today got the rest of the grocery shopping done, all but the rolls, they didn't have what I wanted.  So now we are set for Thanksgiving...the thought of all this is and what we did this weekend has me exhausted!  Tomorrow, shopping, and Wednesday, hubbies B-day.  My what a busy week!

Busy days

Nov 17, 2009

Lately things have been a bit more busy than usual.  The kids school is busy, Dr appointments, Orthodontist appointments, grocery store runs, Christmas and Birthday shopping galore, and company coming and going...not to mention the normal stuff like cooking, cleaning, laundry and such.  This year is the first year in a long time that I am making Thanksgiving dinner, and I feel I have lost my handle on things.  Normally this is something that is super simple for me, but, I am out of the hang of it.  So this will be my 3rd grocery store run to get the rest of what I need and I keep thinking of more that needs to be added to the list.  Have I mentioned how much I hate grocery shopping...yuck!  This time of year is worse than any other time, so crowded and everyone is shopping for the same things!  Not a fan of grocery store shoppers...when we lived in Florida the snow birds were the worst...there were days I was rammed by old people who have the right to be first in line, apparently.  How rude!  :)  Kinda makes me laugh though!

The kids are going to have an art class today, should be fun, especially since someone else is leading it.   They have all finished an entire year of math, and are working on another year, we are hopeful that by the time baby comes they will have gone through 3 books.  The library around the corner has been very nice for reading, and I don't have to buy books!  Yay, no excuse to not read anymore.

As for the baby, I can tell he is getting so much stronger.  The little bumps are turning into big movements and happening a lot more often.  I love to feel him move!  On a funny note, a couple of times in the last 2 weeks after making dinner and taking my apron off, I have looked down and thought to myself...Holy Cow, I ate way to much and then realized, oh yeah, I'm pregnant!  :)  When I get busy I forget the state I am in, so surprising at first, but it makes me laugh...I feel like such a dork!  lol!

My hubbies brother and his wife and baby will be here Friday for Thanksgiving.  We can't wait to meet little Rocco and play with him.  Think some of us will go to Knotts Berry Farm, J's previous military gets him in for free this month, along with another person, and up to 6 more for $15. We may take advantage of that.  His birthday is also the day before Thanksgiving, don't know what to do for him.  My birthday is the following Monday, we are planning go to Disney that day, I get in free, which is nice since I can't really ride anything.  Finally, my daughter turns 14 a week after my birthday!  I can't believe it!  I am having a hard time deciding what to get her...maybe we should go for a pedicure, and girls day out.  What else do 14 year old girls want?  I am at a loss!  Any ideas?

Annoyed!

Nov 11, 2009

Okay, I know most people can't stand door to door salesman...but there are some in particular that drive me especially crazy!  These are the ones that use scare tactics to get you to fork over a huge chunk of change, and when you say no, don't take no for an answer.  Add in to that a pregnant belly, and they have more ammunition to come at you with.  So irritating!  I don't need other people to freak me out about every little thing, I do enough of that on my own.  I might as well live in a bubble, between swine flu, regular flu, bad water, don't eat this and don't drink that, what's a girl to do!  Argh!

Prayer for a friend

Nov 10, 2009

I just received a call from a friend about another friend...

She was 2 days ahead of me in her pregnancy and just lost her baby this morning.  She will be in the hospital in Riverside for the next 2 days, and is devastated.

My heart is broken for her, I can't imagine what she is going through.  If you have a moment today, please say a prayer for her.

Fun Day!  I found a place local that carries the brand and collection that has the crib I was interested in.  It was nice to see it in person instead of just seeing it online, and bonus...it was 50% off!  Woot!  So, we liked it, actually loved it, and ordered it.  In about 8-12 weeks it will be here!

We ordered it in black, since pink just wouldn't do for a baby boy.  I have some cream colored stands in the room that will look nice with the black and have found some bedding that will pull it all together.  What a day!  This will convert to a full size, so it grows with the little guy.  I couldn't help myself and bought some baby shampoo, just so I could smell it...love that smell.  I know, weird right?  :)  Don't even care!

Big Kicks!

Nov 6, 2009

Yesterday morning after breakfast the little guy decided to put on a show for me. He was active enough that my husband, mother-in-law and daughter all could feel a few kicks each before he settled back down to take a nap.  I have never had others be able to feel it so early, so that was really neat, and now they don't think I'm crazy!  :)  I am really enjoying this stage, I feel good, I'm not too big, and I can still get comfortable.  Add in feeling the baby move and it's a winning combination!

I think we may start to get registered, mostly so the kids can feel a part of this.  Probably start with Target, don't know where to go from there, but, I will figure it out.  I did find a crib I would love to have, but, it's of course the most expensive one I have seen, so we will see how that works out.  We also think we know what we would like for bedding.  I had something in mind for a boy after seeing it weeks ago, so that was easy.  Had it been a girl it would be a whole different story.  Now to settle on a name...this is the hard part!

14 weeks 4 days and an Ultrasound!

Nov 4, 2009

I had the best ultrasound that I have ever had!  The baby looked so great, grown so much, and then showed it's parts!  After having oober amounts of ultrasounds done, I have the ability most of the time to tell exactly what we are looking at.  Out peeking from behind the measurement of the femur, were....drum roll please....Boy parts!  I couldn't believe it!  In my heart I felt that it was a boy, but didn't want to verbalize it in case I was wrong and didn't want to offend a little girl.  My heart skipped a beat and I teared up a bit watching the screen and seeing the little guy wiggle around.  We are more than thrilled and feel so blessed to be expecting a little boy after all these years.  Hoping to get the scanner hooked up to the computer so I can post the pictures from the ultrasound.  =)

November already?

Nov 2, 2009

I am having a hard time believing we have made it to November already.  Where has the year gone?  This month begins busy times for our family and is the case most years.  My hubby has been traveling a lot as well, keeping it even more chaotic than normal.

I have noticed as I get older the days seem so short, and the years fly by.  These are the years we want to cherish and in a blink they are done.  Kids grow fast and furiously, and without any warning they become independent.  Such a rude awaking when you finally realize what is happening.  They are good times, and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything different.  The funny thing is that the kids actually think time is flying by as well.  Must be a sign of times and how full our lives are of things that weren't available to us when we were young.  So weird.

It's officially been 101 days of being pregnant, and I am loving every minute of it!  Tomorrow we will see our baby on screen, we are so excited to see this little one again.  We bought a little heart listening device so the kids could hear the baby. We are trying to do our best to make them a part of this adventure, and it seems to have created more excitement than they already had.  We are able to hear the baby's movements more than the heartbeat at this point, but we occasionally find the fast drum beat of it's little heart.  So cool!  It's actually starting to seem real now, and by the looks of my tummy, something is going on in there for sure!

Will give an update tomorrow afternoon, after my appointments.  There is a small chance we will see boy or girl parts...we shall see, and I won't hold my breath on that one.
